The design for Hoogeweg 1 consists of a low-rise part of 5 storeys and a high-rise part consisting of 23 storeys, together housing 467 apartments and 231 short stay apartments.
The plinth of the building will accommodate catering, tailored towards the residents of the complex. Sufficient parking space will be realised, mostly housed in a parking garage. Zonneveld ingenieurs has created and fully developed the structural design. As a whole the building is earthquake resistant and meets the NPR9998:2015 requirement.

Along the Hereweg, near the A7 motorway a 12-storey residential tower, with a 2-storey parking garage has been realised. With regard to the earthquakes, research has been done on its effects on the main load-bearing structures of the residential tower and the parking garage. The earthquake load confrom the NPR9998; dec 2015, is of such size, that they couldn't be readily integrated in the current design. By opting for a solution with base isolation, a sollution was found in which forces could be reduced in the current design. This sollution has been integrated into the design and implemented as such. In this case we chose to integrate the base isolation above the parking garage and under the residential storeys.

Residential and care centre Transwijk

In the district Kanaleneiland in Utrecht a new residential and care centre has been realised on the plot of the former Huize Transwijk. In the design the possibility of healthcare provision in the residences has been taken into account. The apartments have several home automation systems in order to be prepared for the future. 
The design has several special features like a continuing grass roof and a striking building/tower structure.

The project has a gross surface area of around 25.500 m2 and accommodates:

  • 36 spots nursing (psychogeriatric care)
  • 75 spots nursing
  • 50 spots healthcare infrastructure
  • 100 rental and owner-occupied residences
  • commercial spaces (e.g. for physiotherapist and hairdresser)
  • covered parking garage
The complex has been fitted with an ATES system; energy is stored far under ground. Warmth and cold are stored in a soil layer, and are used to warm or cool the residences. This technology saves up to 25% of energy and contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions. (Up to 20%.) Because of the ATES system and the use of sustainable materials throughout the building, it is very eco-friendly.
