The South east of Amsterdam is the location for a new 'city neighbourhood': SPOT. The building of some 1.100 houses in this new neighbourhood in Amstel III has officially started on 2 June. Previously, this was an office area in South east Amsterda, but it will be a green neighbourhood with residential towers, smaller buildings with appartments, intimate squares and green streets. In the buildings there will also be room for offices, sports facilities and a primary school with child care facilities.
The intention of the project is to create many affordable houses in Amstel III: 110 social and 525 average appartments for rent and 75 average houses for sale.
